I know you are scared to wash it. Please don’t worry. Water will not hurt the plug if you dry it before use.
1: Pre-Inspection
Look over your heated blanket well and make sure you don’t have any exposed wires.
2: Unplug & Detach
Unplug it from the wall. Detach the power cord from the electric blanket itself. We are NOT washing the power cord.
3: Pre-Soak
Pre soaked the electric blanket in your washer for about 15 to 20 minutes in lukewarm water with detergent. The detergent has to be very mild and doesn’t contain bleach or harsh chemicals. we’re gonna use this 15 to 20 minutes to allow the surfactants to really grab and attach themselves to that soil in that blanket and loosen it up before we actually go on and start to wash it.
4: Turn your Washer
Turn your washer to a delicate or gentle cycle and you’re gonna run it for two minutes. Two minutes is plenty of time to get this job done if you pre soak your blanket. We don’t want to take the chance to disturb the wiring that is within the blanket.
5: Spin and Rinse Cycles
Allow the washer to proceed to the spin and rinse cycles. Just one single spin cycle.
6: Air Dry
Air dry. No blow dryer. No artificial heat. Hang it up somewhere if you got a clothesline go outside hanging on your clothesline or hang it over like a shower rod. Or you can also lay it on a flat surface and let it dry. During the drying process, you’re gonna need to stretch the electrical blanket back into its original shape. Make sure the blanket is COMPLETELY DRY before you plug it back up. You can’t allow any kind of moisture to be in because water and electricity obviously they don’t mix.
